MenCare launched the State of the World’s Fathers (SOWF) report in June 2015 in 10 cities around the world, and the report as a global advocacy tool has already begun to see results.
In addition to its translations into over seven languages, in the Netherlands advocacy around SOWF led to the increase of paternity leave from two to five days. A bill for 30 days of paid leave for fathers was introduced in Brazil’s Congress this summer. In the United States, conclusions from SOWF were shared with the authors of a Washington, DC bill that proposes 16 weeks of paid family leave for district residents and workers.
