Boys who are taught as children how to care – for their homes and the people around them – grow up to be men who care for their families, and who believe that care work should be shared equally at home.
When we asked Women Deliver participants what care looks like in their lives, we received so many answers ranging from stories of personal and self-care, to stories of being cared for by others, and stories about how people freely and joyfully provide care to partners and family.
This participant talked about the care work in her home and the way that her husband was shown and taught the importance of providing care and sharing responsibilities growing up, leading them to an “organic,” equal division of labor.
