UN Women’s Executive Director visits MenCare partner AÇEV’s Father Support Program

In honor of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, UN Women’s Executive Director Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka visited a group of fathers participating in MenCare partner AÇEV’s Father Support Program in Istanbul, Turkey in December. Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka said during her visit that fathers “are a vital part of the solution that has been missing” to prevent 

In Bulgaria, fathers are still seen as “sidekicks” but are eager to be more involved – especially at school

Fathers and children in a gymnasium.

The Safety For Our Children Conference, organized by MenCare partner For Our Children Foundation, was held in March 2016. During the conference, a MenCare Bulgaria campaign representative presented key results from a nationally representative study of parents with children under 18 years old. The presentation focused on fathers’ participation in their children’s education and healthcare. 

MenCare partners publish review of State of the World’s Fathers for the Balkans region

CARE International Balkans and its partners in the region published the State of the World’s Fathers: Balkans Review in April 2016, building on the efforts of the global State of the World’s Fathers report by conducting a policy review of gender-equitable fatherhood and caregiving policies in the region. Policymakers and civil society organizations contributed to developing
