In Sri Lanka, MenCare partner works to sustain, expand fatherhood programming

MenCare+ Indonesia expands work in East Java and Papua

In August, MenCare+ Indonesia expanded its work engaging men and fathers in health promotion and violence prevention in two regions. In Papua, MenCare+ began a pilot project to reduce the region’s high rates of violence against women and children, while in East Java, it scaled up work to get men involved in the health sector.

In July, MenCare Sri Lanka trained 30 religious and community leaders on how to promote involved, nonviolent fatherhood and gender-equitable parenting in their work. Participants in the MenCare “Training of Trainers” program included Christian pastors, Hindu religious teachers, former MenCare facilitators, and community volunteers from the Ambagamuwa Area Development Program (ADP), along with a dozen 

MenCare+ expands to Papua, Indonesia to promote sexual and reproductive health and rights, prevent gender-based violence

On July 8, MenCare partner Rutgers WPF Indonesia launched the expansion of its MenCare+ program to the eastern Indonesian province of Papua. The launch ceremony was held in the provincial capital of Jayapura, and Indonesia’s Minister for Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection Yohana Yembise gave the launch’s keynote address.
