In a culture strongly influenced by religion, where preference is placed on men over women, a religious teacher in Bondowoso, Indonesia upholds gender equality, women’s rights and engaging men in domestic work. This video shows Ustadz Muhammad and his wife, a kindergarten and junior high school teacher. The Ustadz decided to teach the Koran at home and carry out domestic duties households that can not be done by his wife. Initially, the villagers felt strange to see the chaplain drying and washing clothes, sweeping, mopping and cooking at home. But over time, a change occurred. The film is part of the MenCare campaign that promotes male involvement as non-violent fathers and partners.
