We are excited to announce that Mphokuhle Mabhena – Lunga (Mpho), Child Rights and Positive Parenting Regional Coordinator, will be representing Sonke Gender Justice as the new MenCare global co-coordinator.
Mpho brings to the position years of experience working on projects and campaigns with refugees and migrants, religious leaders, and faith-based organizations through her previous role at Sonke as a Refugee Health and Rights (RHR) trainer. Through her later role as a senior trainer within the Social and Structural Drivers (SSD) Portfolio, as well as through her work within the Regional Programmes Unit (RPU), Mpho holds experience working with the 22 African countries within MenEngage Africa (MEA).
Mpho joined Sonke in 2010 as an intern through an International Human Rights Exchange programme with the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg. She received this opportunity after completing her BSc Honours Degree in Journalism and Media Studies from the National University of Science and Technology in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe.
Mpho dreams of seeing a better Africa where human rights are respected and enjoyed by everyone, regardless of ethnicity, color, or nationality. We are excited to have Mpho working with MenCare to advance our common goals, and to build new opportunities and partnerships.
