Call for participation in MenCare’s new film “Being Dad”
MenCare is excited to announce “Being Dad,” a new film being produced by the campaign in conjunction with the launch of its first-ever State of the World’s Fathers report in June 2015. And, we need your help.
“Being Dad” will be a short film, highlighting self-recorded interviews with fathers, mothers, and children from around the world – and you, or someone you know, could be featured. Individuals will share their experiences, aspirations, and fears related to fatherhood. Men will talk about the types of fathers they are, and want to be. Women and children will share their own ideas about what fatherhood means and the impact it can have.
The film will shine a spotlight on the powerful effect that men’s involvement in fatherhood and caregiving can have on women’s and girls’ empowerment, on the well-being of children, and on the health and well-being of men themselves. It frames the importance and timeliness of the forthcoming State of the World’s Fathers report, which will capture global research and highlight promising programs and policies related to men’s participation in caregiving and fatherhood, maternal and child health, and violence prevention.
We’re calling for MenCare partners, friends, program participants, and community members to share their experiences, opinions, and hopes about fatherhood in the “Being Dad” film. If you (or someone you know) are interested in participating, download the “Being Dad Participants’ Guide” and submit a recording of your interview to our filmmakers before May 15, 2015.
